❄️ Cold Weather Vehicle Crime Prevention Advice |
||
|
As temperatures drop, many people leave their vehicles unattended with the engine running while they defrost windows. Unfortunately, thieves can take advantage of this opportunity and steal a vehicle in seconds.
🚗 Stay with your vehicle while it is running. Never leave it unattended, even for a short time. 🔑 Take your keys with you whenever you leave your vehicle. Do not leave spare keys inside. ❄️ Allow extra time before your journey to safely clear windows and mirrors. 👀 Keep your vehicle secure by locking doors and closing windows if you need to step away. 🏠 If possible, park in a secure, well-lit location and use home security lighting or CCTV where available. 🚙 Consider using a windscreen cover overnight to reduce frost build-up and save time in the morning.
✅ Remember, leaving a vehicle running and unattended not only increases the risk of theft but could also invalidate your insurance policy.
📞 Report suspicious activity via 101 or online. If a theft is in progress, call 999 immediately.
